Bedsharing Safely: How to Bedshare with your Newborn

Before my first child was born, I swore off having my baby sleep in bed with me and my husband. I was told that bedsharing and co-sleeping were just too dangerous–that it could cause him to die. There was absolutely nothing that I was going to do to intentionally harm my precious baby so, I didn’t even consider bedsharing as an option. But, after I birthed my firstborn in my own bed, everything …

Spring Cleaning Bedroom Checklist – Bedsharing Edition | Free Printable

There are two types of people–those that avoid spring cleaning like the plague. And then there’s those that are organizing their spring cleaning checklists way before daylight savings even hits. I am definitely in the latter category as spring cleaning not only feels like a physical refresh to me, but a mental one as well.  The energy in the air when the weather starts warming up really …

My Accidentally Unassisted, Precipitous Labor, Home Birth Story

I love birth stories. They're all so unique and messy and raw and beautiful. I just love hearing how women are used as vessels to bring life into this world. This is a birth story with all of the pregnancy details that you didn’t ask for.  I promise they’re included for a reason - I’m not just rambling. They all help with the big picture. But if you just want labor details, feel free to …

10 Sustainable Postpartum Pads to Use in 2022

Over the past several years I’ve been working on paring down my wardrobe to pieces from sustainable brands with natural fibers. This definitely includes the pieces that I wear closest to my most intimate parts.  I’m writing this just shy of four weeks postpartum with my second baby, still bleeding here and there and still using my sustainable postpartum pads.  Disclaimer: This post may …

Hi!

I’m Shelbi. I’m so glad you’re here.

Mother’s Millk was birthed out of the death of my own mother. She went to be with the Lord when I was only 23 years old When I became pregnant at age 27, without my mom here I found myself seeking the Lord for His wisdom on how to be a mother to my baby. As mamas to ever-growing babies, we all need nourishment—physical and spiritual—to keep us strong for our children. I’m sharing my heart here with wisdom that the Lord has whispered to me in motherhood. May we always crave nourishment from the Lord so that we remain strong for our babies.

My hope is that other mothers would glean from the bits of experiences I’ve had in home birth, breastfeeding and bedsharing.

I also love sharing about home textile and bedding brands that use natural materials and focus on sustainability. My background is in product design and marketing in the home and fashion industries so I love discovering new brands and products.
