Finding out you’re pregnant can bring a wave of emotions all on its own. Then when you begin to realize that there’s so much to prepare for labor and birth, things can get really overwhelming, really fast. It’s so important to not just prepare your home birth supplies or hospital bag and baby gear. Take time to truly prepare your mind for what is about to happen as your body is being used as a vessel to deliver new life into the world.
One thing that truly brought peace to my mind during pregnancy was meditating on scripture and just speaking life-giving words over my body and my baby. I decided to create my own printable christian birth affirmation cards so I could hang them in my birth space and read them out loud. It was so important to me to speak the Lord’s promises, saturating the atmosphere.
If you have fear or anxiety flooding your thoughts about your upcoming labor and birth of your baby, meditating on scripture and Christ-centered birth affirmations can help replace those negative thoughts with words of peace.
what are affirmations?
An affirmation is defined as the act of confirming something to be true. There are a lot of unknowns in labor and birth, So when using affirmations, we are speaking absolutes that we do know. We can begin to declare these truths over our minds, our bodies and our babies.
how to use christian birth affirmation cards in pregnancy and labor

There are so many ways you can use birth affirmation cards throughout your pregnancy and once your body begins working to bring your sweet baby into the world. Many mamas hang them up over their birth tub or wherever they are preparing their birth space.
Birth affirmation cards could also be placed around your bathroom mirror or on your nightstand–really anywhere that you will see them as a constant reminder. Having an additional smaller set is great to throw in your bag so you can have them when you’re at work or out of the house.
While I was in labor with my son, I loved having my husband choose a few affirmation cards at a time and just read them out loud. It was soothing to hear his voice read scripture and speak God’s promises over me. I’ve even seen some birth videos where an older child is reading them over their mama *cue tears.* There’s just something so sacred about someone you love reading the words of God while you are bringing new life into the world.
give birth affirmation cards as a gift
Birth affirmation cards can be such an encouraging gift to give to a mama at a baby shower. Many gifts to moms are baby-focused so it’s nice to give something that can support her spiritually and mentally. These birth affirmation cards can be a simple add on to a little curated gift basket alongside some goodies for mama and baby. I’ve been prompted a few times by the Holy Spirit to gift the ones I created to certain moms and I’ve ended up being the one blessed by their responses.
